About Rob Partington

Rob Partington Education is a company that delivers training, consultancy and advisory services to schools across the country. 

 

Rob Partington has 16 years experience of headship in two different schools in Manchester. Until September 2020 he was a serving Head of a large primary school in north Manchester, a role he combined with working in other schools acting as a consultant, advisor and delivering training. In September 2020 he left his headship and began working full time for Rob Partington Education. His particular strengths are Teaching and Learning, Assessment and Assessment Systems, Leadership and Management, Behaviour Management, LGBT+ Inclusion and Mental Health support for schools.

Rob's most recent school was a 600 pupil primary school in Manchester. This role included managing a staff of over 100 and a budget of approximately £3m. Since 2009, when Rob was appointed as Head, the school increased in size by 50%, was classed as good by OFSTED in 2013 and in 2015 was named as one of the top 100 schools in the country for the amount of progress pupils make. In 2017 the school was commended by schools minister Nick Gibb MP for being in the top 3% in the country and in 2018 for being in the top 2% for progress made.

Previously Rob was Head of a small school in Oldham, a role he was appointed to in September 2004 when the school was facing uncertainty about its future as it had a small number of pupils, was in poor financial condition, results below government expected standards and an OFSTED grade of satisfactory. In the five years he was head he turned the school round so it was in a secure financial position, was graded good with outstanding features by OFSTED and had a full roll of children. In this time he also oversaw the complete rebuilding of the school which also incorporated the addition of a phase one children's centre

For eight years he was a Stonewall Training Partner and a Stonewall School Role Model, delivering courses on LGBTQ+ Inclusion and Tackling Homophobic, Biphobic and Transphobic Bullying to both Primary and Secondary Schools. He has worked in schools with both staff and pupils and has spoken at national conferences on the subject. He has worked with the NAHT supporting heads and briefing DFE, OFSTED, Regional Schools Commissioners and MPs and currently delivers his own courses on LGBTQ+ Inclusion and RSE 2020, as well as running workshops and inspirational assemblies for all ages of children and young people. Rob is also a member of the advisory board for Leeds Beckett University's Centre for LGBTQ+ Inclusion in Education. 

Rob is a qualified Mental Health First Aid Trainer and regularly runs Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Aware courses for MHFA England. Rob is passionate about promoting positive mental health for our young people and providing support for those in need. He is also a qualified Physical First Aid trainer and runs Qualsafe certified First Aid at Work, Paediatric First Aid and Outdoor Emergency First Aid Courses.

Rob has also regularly delivered training and INSET on behaviour management, growth mind set and assessment and is currently a sessional lecturer on primary education courses at Liverpool John Moores University. He has mentored new and interim headteachers, acted as consultant to experienced heads and has guided newly and recently qualified teachers on their journey to outstanding. 

Voluntary work includes various roles in the Scout Association over the past 25 years, including Scout Leader, Assistant District Commissioner and District Commissioner. As District Commissioner he was responsible for the development and implementation of the strategic vision of two different districts. In 2014 he led the amalgamation of three Districts into one District with an adult membership of over 500 and a youth member ship of approximately 2,500. He is currently an Explorer Scout Leader, Deputy County Commissioner and Chair of the North West Regional Diversity and Inclusion Team. For the past fifteen years Rob has been a trustee of several different Scout Districts, ensuring they fully adhere to Charity Commission legislation. 

When not working, Scouting or watching Manchester City you can usually find him up a mountain or dangling off a lump of rock somewhere. He is a qualified Mountain Leader and Rock Climbing Instructor, has summitted many of Switzerland's 4,000m peaks and has climbed and mountaineered as far away as Kyrgyzstan.
